Please be aware that the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector does not request personal information over the phone such as social security numbers, bank accounts and credit card numbers. If you are contacted by someone requesting this information they are not affiliated with the County San Diego and you should not provide any personal or confidential information. If you are required to return a refund to the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector, please return it directly to the address on the remittance advice of the refund only. Unclaimed Property Tax Refunds:
The County of San Diego Treasurer-Tax Collector is currently in possession of Unclaimed Property Tax Refunds. These consist of warrants (checks) that remain uncashed for a period of more than six months, usually a result of warrants that have been returned as undeliverable by the postal service. Often the payee has moved and does not leave a forwarding address or the forwarding order has expired.
