Larry Cohen Sworn In As San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector

San Diego, CA – Larry Cohen took the oath of office today as he begins to serve out the remaining months of the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s 2022-2026 term.

“It is the honor to take the oath of service for this vital office — one that touches every home, every school district, and every community in San Diego County,” said Treasurer-Tax Collector Cohen.

“I look forward to serving San Diegans and working with the talented team in the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office,” said Mr. Cohen. “We are staying focused on our mission of providing exceptional service, looking at ways to innovate, and keeping the taxpayers in mind with everything we do.”

Larry Cohen previously served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Juan Vargas, who sits on the House Financial Services Committee. For over five years, Mr. Cohen acted as chief advisor in supporting Vargas’s work on the committee, which oversees banks, pensions, and federal securities legislation.

In the private sector, he worked for Millipore Sigma, where he managed a $30 million business line and was responsible for profit and loss performance, investment strategies, and contract negotiations.

Mr. Cohen has a master’s in business administration from Strayer University in Washington, D.C., and he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
