SAN DIEGO, CA –San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Larry Cohen is reminding San Diego property owners that today, April 10^th, is the last day to pay the second installment of their property taxes, before they are delinquent, and penalties incur. Property tax payments are expected to generate over $9 billion dollars for the region.

“The deadline to pay the second installment of your property taxes without incurring penalties is today,” said Cohen. “We expect a big surge in payments today and I urge homeowners to avoid a trip to the branch and pay online at sdttc.com– it’s the easiest, quickest, and most secure way to pay. There is no additional fee to pay online with an e-Check.” All 975,199 secured tax bills are available now at sdttc.com to view and pay.

“For taxpayers who still send a check by mail, please use the special color-coded envelopes we provide with your bill,” encouraged Cohen. “Our office handles hundreds of thousands of pieces of mail each year. By using these envelopes, our machines can process 7,500 payments an hour and reduce your check processing time from 10 weeks down to 48 hours upon receipt of payment – that’s an incredible reduction in processing time.”

“Our office boasts a 99% collection rate thanks to responsible San Diego homeowners who pay on time. This money funds essential services and programs so that our communities can thrive, and includes funding for school and education, public safety, health services, infrastructure, animal services, and much more,” concluded Cohen.

The first property tax installment was due on November 1, 2025, and became delinquent after December 10, 2025. The second installment was due February 1, 2026, and becomes delinquent after April 10, 2026. Property owners can find their tax bill information online or call the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office toll free at 877-829-4732.
